A full day of speakers covering everything from cryptocurrency investing to Blockchain's role in small business and education.

In support and honor of The City of Pittsburgh's Inclusive Innovation Week 2018, we're inviting the entire city to enjoy a day of education and discovery about all things blockchain. At no cost to you, we're bringing some of Pittsburgh's most learned blockchain experts to speak on various topics within the blockchain ecosystem. Whether you're a business professional, a mom, a teacher, an athlete, or an entrepreneur, blockchain will have a large affect on your life in the very near future. We're here to prepare you, educate you, and answer any questions you may have around the subject of decentralized technology. And no matter your level of understanding of blockchain, there will be something for everyone to take away.

 

This mini-conference is completely free and open to the public.

Speaker #2: Bill Laboon

Computer Science Lecturer at University of Pittsburgh and Author of "Strength in Numbers: A Novel of Cryptocurrency", a science-fiction novel exploring the world of cryptocurrency gives us a preview into his talk..."A Grand Tour of Altcoins". He will show us some of the different alt coins and why they are useful (e.g. Cardano for formally verified smart contracts, Monero for anonymity, etc.)

Grant Olson will go in to detail about various scams, cons, hacks, and double-crosses of the early bitcoin days, followed up with some general lessons from the attacks that can be applied to the latest round of investments, altcoins, ICOs and more.

Presentation: "Participating in Masternode and Staking Cryptocurrencies"

Allen Hena will explain Proof of Stake consensus or hybrid PoW/PoS cryptos which are increasing in popularity as the cryptocurrency space is now a legitimate market for exchanging value and performing complex business functions.

Presentation: "The Small Business Blockchain Opportunity”

Ray Sidney-Smith will explain to small businesses how to gain competitive advantage in the marketplace, greater security, and enhance their target audience experiences using blockchain technology.
